Abune Yoseph Community Conservation and Ecotourism Management

The conservation area is governed by the Abune Yoseph Community Conservation Council selected from the 4 kebele (peasant associations) adjacent to conservation area. The council deals with the conservation and management of the natural resources of the area including determining open and closed periods. The committee receives technical expertise and logistical facilitation from the Frankfurt Zoological Society Afroalpine Ecosystem Project.

All money generated by tourism activities goes to supporting conservation in the Abune Yoseph area, helping the development of tourism in the area and supporting the Community Development Fund.
